I am a Queen!
Queen has (in 2024)the 40th anniversary of the famous song: I've got to break free. We all remember Freddie Mercury and his great performing as a house wife with the vacuum cleaner.
To mark the occasion, we're celebrating this great artist and creating our own puppet version of the house wife who sings, to break out of the laundry prison.
Ruth is tired of her job as a washerwoman. She don’t intend to spend the rest of her life washing other people's shit. With these words she puts down her broom, and sings out her longings and frustrations to her own great relief.
In teams of 2 puppeteers, we use the technique with 3 human hands and a puppet body. We relate to the melody, but Ruth herself sings out her drama with her own voice and eventually gains unexpected power.
We place a lot of emphasis on character development through detailed animation between 3 hands. The figure must appear so alive that the audience believes it is real. When the audience and the Figure play as a team, then the magic of the Figure Theater occurs.
